Establishing conflict prevention and resolution systems in territorial communities of the Zaporizhzhia region (2020–2021)

The project focused on establishing core components for a conflict prevention and resolution system within amalgamated territorial communities (ATCs). The initiative involved the collaborative development and adaptation of conflict prevention policies, the creation of community hubs, and increasing awareness among community leaders regarding tools for non-violent dispute resolution.

Geography and implementation period

The project was implemented between 2020 and 2021 in the Zaporizhzhia region, specifically in the following communities:

Berestove community (Berdiansk district);

Novenske community (Melitopol district);

Prymorsk community.

Key results

As part of the project implementation:

— focus groups were organized in target communities to develop local conflict prevention policies;

— training sessions were conducted for social sector representatives on "Working with Conflicts: Applying Creative Techniques for Diverse Target Audiences" and "Conflict Mediation, Advocacy, and Community Communication";

— hubs were renovated and equipped in cooperation with local authorities to serve as meeting spaces for residents;

— methodological materials were developed for social service providers: "Conflict Transformation in Communities" and "Practical Guidelines for Conducting Conflict Transformation Activities."
